From the Middle Age:

It remains a part of the Grange aux Dîmes, dating from the twelfth century and now a listed to historical monument, and some houses troglodytes. Furthermore, it was discovered in the mid-nineteenth century, the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, a carved altar from the twelfth century. The altar, unique in its style (reflecting the passage of the Gothic novel, traces of polychrome ...), is now kept at Louvre Museum in Paris.

From the Old Regime:

Have been retained the town hall and its park, place of residence assumed the Miss de la Vallière. Extensive research in many documents (parish registers, notaries, departmental and national archives) did not permit this. The park, the work of Desgoffe, nephew of Le Nôtre, is classified a historical monument. However, it was badly damaged by the storm of December 1999. The remains of the Comtesse de Bussy, guillotined during the Revolution in 1794, has been divided into apartments and is quite damaged. However, it is visible street Bezons.

From the nineteenth and twentieth centuries:

Carrières also inspired painters: Claude Monet are painted Carrières Saint-Denis in 1872, Maurice de Vlaminck Le Village in 1905 and André Derain fit in one of his favorite subjects. Similarly, the Cubist painter Georges Braque painted a Landscape of Carrières-Saint-Denis in 1909. The painter Claude-Max LOCHU (1951 -) lives since 2002 in Carrières-sur-Seine, where he set up his workshop.

Saint-Germain-en-Laye contains a high concentration of historic monuments or listed.

The Castle of Saint-Germain-en-Laye was one of the main residence of the kings of France from Louis VI le Gros, until 'to Louis XIV.

As such, the town of Saint-Germain-en-Laye inherited all of the vast forest of the same name which covers 3400 hectares north and west of the city. It is a forest owned by the state, it is classified natural area of ecological, fauna and flora.

Finally, the cemetery is home to many ancient tombs of personalities including the painter Maurice Denis and director Jacques Tati.


Versailles, its Castle, monument in the World Heritage List by Unesco. It was the seat of the court of the kings of France under Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI.

In the park are the Grand and Petit Trianon and the Hameau de la Reine in town:

Grand Commun, formerly "Grand Carré des Offices Commun", by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, inaugurated in 1684, this building shaped square in front of the wing of Midi originally housed various stewardship of the castle .

The vast Stable, which houses the museum of carriages, and small stable, twin building located opposite the castle side of the avenue de Paris, also due to Jules Hardouin-Mansart.

The Church Notre Dame, by Jules Hardouin-Mansart and consecrated in 1686, is the oldest church in Versailles. It was the seat of the royal parish, which recorded all acts of baptism, marriage and death of the royal family (historical monument in 1933).

The St. Louis Cathedral, the work of Jacques Hardouin-Mansart of Sagonne, inaugurated in 1754, the largest church in Versailles, at the cathedral since 1795, consecrated in 1843 (classified a historical monument in 1906).

The Royal Chapel of Versailles, by Jules Hardouin-Mansart and Robert de Cotte, consecrated in 1710, is located in the north wing of the castle. The paintings of the vault are due to Antoine Coypel.

The Récollets, by Jules Hardouin-Mansart (1684), of which there are only the cloister and portal of entry.
